You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—” Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”
((How do you respond?))
Adrik sits down on the cushion, wondering how to skim over the thieving parts of his adventure
"Well, I'm... just wandering around trying to find a new life out of the hell that was my old life, and my father wanted me to become a knight, but there were too many rules and there was no adventure in that, so I went and started my own adventure, hoping to become some sort of hero maybe, although it is ending up harder than I thought, although I did not leave with a bad relationship if I go back to my father, there will not be much of an exciting life left in store for me other than becoming a knight.
[This next part is just for the extra backstory, I would not write this to anyone if I were saying stuff about myself]
Adrik starts thinking about the start of his journey...
...he liked the life of going out to see new things, one of his only regrets is that since he left his house he has not seen his mother.
things were going great until he started running low on cash, once that happened he had to make do with what he could, and with the help of one of his friends, he was able to learn a little about woodcraft and surviving in the woods. and soon was also a competent fighter. his friend also taught him the art of petty thievery and how to avoid the soldiers.
he thought about the relationships he had with his family when he left: his father mother and brother, even though his father was not pleased with his insistance that he not become a knight, there relationship was not bad.
with his mother he had a much better relationship, and with his brother there was not much relationship for they where in two different worlds, his being one of a more rougish nature.
he looks up hopefully at the old lady and asks a question
"would you happen to have some odd jobs I would be able to do which would get me a little coin?"
