You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

Erin sits down and sighs. "Its kind of a lot to unpack, you know?"
"When I was young my parents left me. Not for any malicious reason, they went off to war. My mom included, I think she was a medic. I don't remember what war it was. I was little, no older than four, and it was in some far off land that people around here don't really care about. They said they'd be back, and I'm sure they meant it, but they never returned."
They seemed so confident in their eventual return that they didn't leave me with much. Some old books, family friends to ask for food, a place to sleep, etc. After a while, people offered to take me in and let me stay with them, but I declined. I'm unsure if it was rebellion or a hope for the impossible, but I was by myself for most of my early life."
"As I got older, I got around to reading those books. There was enough in them to give me a decent education, more so than most people I've met around here, and introduced me to the arcane arts. There was something about magic, an indescribable feeling that drew me to it. I'm sure you know how it feels. What, with you 'Expecting me,' despite never meeting before this conversation. I can feel the mana emanating off of you. It's impressive, really, though it comes with age."
"As I came of age, I left that small distance down and decided to travel this world in search of people who could train me in the magical arts. It's been an exciting journey so far; I've met many new people and learned many new things about this world, yet the secrets to the mystic arts still allude me."
"So," he scoots slightly closer to the hag, "Where should I go next?"
