You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

Bertrand removes his beret and makes eye contact with the woman. "Greetings madam, I am Bertrand Dubon, future retainer of the venerable House Euler. I come from a far less illustrious family of minor repute, and I'm on my way now to accept my graciously given post." Bertrand keeps boasting, now looking into the air, evidently unaware of his surroundings. "You should mark my name down, you'll be hearing of me a lot, I'm quite sure. As for my given occupation as a retainer of House Euler, I am intended to become a bodyguard and loyal supporter, to protect and serve them. In turn they offer me a place among them, and truly, what more can a man ask for than good company?"
