Born to a unsuccessful merchant, Seah was brought up by her educated mother in their small family home in Helena while her father would go on small journeys peddling wares. She’d grow alongside her older siblings, and they’d leave the household before Seah was more than a child. With them the family savings went. Despite how her family would struggle to get by at times, she pushed through her struggles by pursuing her faith as taught to her by her parents. Often at odds with what she was taught, she would falter in her pursuit of faith and make many mistakes, much to the ire of her father and mother. Deep down Seah would resent their punishments, yet would ultimately blame herself heavily for each sin she committed. 

Eventually, her parents’ anger would reach a boiling point when Seah privately denounced a church appointment. They’d unexpectedly cast Seah from their home. Perhaps it was pent up frustration that started when her brothers took all the family’s money, or maybe it started with Seah’s constant struggles in following the faith, but Seah would never truly know.  Her confusion was only compounded by the manner by which her parents carried themselves, they were always obsessed with money, never giving to charity or beggars, and always denouncing Imperial taxes that went to the state or church. Dejected, confused, and heart broken, Seah would head to the street and out into the world, trying to find a place for herself where she could place her faith and call a new home, be it with The Church of Canon or with new people to call companions.
