Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”
Jessica slowly sat down, wary of this strange woman. "Well I grew up in a town a few dozen miles west of here, and always wanted to become a scholar. The world is just so big, and we know so little about it, it's just so interesting. Anyway I studied for most of my childhood, and eventually learnt all the town had to teach me, so started looking further afield, and heard about the big libraries in the cities, and that's where I am going now!" She took a moment to breathe, before her cheeks turned bright red. "I'm sorry" she started, "you probably wanted something a bit shorter huh? I just get so excited to talk to people, and- sorry." She caught herself before going on another monologue and thought for a moment, before asking the hag, "What is the cheapest carriage I can get here?"
