(Sorry if my numbers are wrong, the wiki calendar hasn’t been updated in a while, so I’m guessing the year on the server is 1778).
Adelaide was born in a small woodland cottage on the 12th of the Deep Cold, 1756- the fruit of a nearly five-year struggle with infertility among her parents. Tucked in a thicket of trees, a few kilometre outside the city of New Reza in the land of Haense, the cottage stood as a testament to the Forester family’s general sense of self-sufficiency. Her father carried with him the tradition of his namesake, and was a forester, building his family’s cottage himself, and selling wood by the cartload to the nearby city. Her mother was a gardener, weaver, and occasional painter, that found an omen of faith in every convenience in her life. Together, they spent much of their free time together as a family, striving to prepare their only daughter for the world that lay ahead of her.
When Adelaide was a little girl, she had few real friends, knowing only the familiar faces she came across in town when she went with her father to sell wood. Committed to filling the girl’s young life with joy, her parents made her a number of toys and board games, carving dice from wood, fashioning pieces, and buying some cards from town. They often spent many afternoons playing together in the light of the window, filling their cottage with laughter and fun. In time, she grew skilled in Haeseni Chess, checkers, Ur, and a few other games. She was taught to weave, cook, and came to help her father cut the trees as he grew in age. In her teenage years, the need for wood grew as Haense continued to expand- the echoes of the Three-Month War settling. A number of woodsman began to work alongside Adelaide and her family, clearing the forest for Haense’s endless need for wood. But, before long, as the dawn of her adulthood began to shine through, she woke up one morning and looked across her family’s once serene thicket, and saw only a field of stumps.
The realization was a low moment for Adelaide, and the burden of it laid heavy on her heart for some weeks. She decided that she needed a change of scenery, to find a place where she could give back to the world that raised her, rather than to do nothing but take from it. Through rare word-of-mouth at the markets of New Reza, she’d heard word of a group of people known as Druids, who sought to protect nature. With what little she knew, she guessed it may be a good place to begin. She shared her plans with her parents, who offered their supportive skepticism, but nonetheless wished her well. After a few weeks of preparation, she set off, excited to see the world she had no opportunity to see before, that she’d only heard stories of.
“I...” Adelaide began, skepticism tracing through the features of her face, “are you trying to sell me something? I’m sorry, I have no coin.” She would avert her gaze, aiming to sidestep around the gentleman as she walks towards the looming city.
