Myrtle Peregrin (formally Myrtle Fernpot) was born in Bramblebury. Her father left the family shortly after her birth to perform research in the wilderness. Myrtle never knew much about him because her mother, Edith, avoided that subject. Edith was a humble farmer and a cook. She loved the forest and often took Myrtle down to the woods to collect ingredients for dinner. She taught Myrtle how to forage, navigate, and how to appreciate nature. In the evening, she would cook the most wonderful meals for Myrtle and their neighbors. She also shared her faith in Lord Knox with Myrtle. She raised Myrtle to be a proper halfling. In time, as Myrtle grew older, her mother grew ill. Myrtle had just reached the age of 33 when Edith passed. Inspired by her mother’s illness, Myrtle was determined to study alchemy so that she could make potions to improve the lives of her family and friends. Upon her mother’s death, Myrtle was taken in by Iris Peregrin. Iris’ altruistic spirit reminded Myrtle very much of her departed mother. She felt right at home from the first time they met. As for Myrtle’s father, no one knows his whereabouts. Perhaps, one day he will return.

Myrtle jumps back upon the man's greeting. Her brow is furled and she's holding her arms over her ears. She's obviously overstimulated from the hustle and bustle of the city. It's a wonder that she heard his question. "The college." she says shakily. "I'm going to study at the college. Do you know where it is?" She removes her hands from her ears to listen carefully for the man's response.
