Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

The somewhat timid man cleared his throat before taking a seat on said cushion, "Expecting me?", he said, furrowing his eyebrows. "Surely, you have some prior knowledge of me already?". He took a gander around the room, familiarizing himself with his surroundings before deciding to bite into her request. "Well, you see, I grew up within the outskirts of the kingdom living with my father as a humble fisherman, but soon became infatuated with the royal court and had big hopes of one day becoming the king's steward." He deeply inhaled and slowly blinked before opening his mouth again; "Clearly, as I have ended up here my dreams did not become a reality for me." He chuckled at the self-deprecation. With a sigh, he arose from his seating, dusting himself off. "Other than that, I became enchanted by the Duke's daughter and had ambitions of making her my bride." - "Once her father caught winds of our romance, he locked my beloved away and smeared my campaign, after the disapproval of such a mighty influence at court, my chances at becoming the King's steward crumbled underneath his boot." Now, standing in silence, he reminisced over the life he could have had.
