Geckonawa

You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

She sits down in the well-worn tent and a small poof of dust issues forth from the cushion. After she clears her throat, she replies, "My story isn't all that interesting. I've come from the caves nearby to trade what I've earned for some surface vegetables. Something with vibrant colors and the taste of the sun." Her head tilts towards her left shoulder gently. "And some tea made with leaves instead of roots for once. I trust you have the order ready since you were expecting me?" Her hand disappears into her cloak where she pulls out a small bag, jangling with a small bit of Mina. 

The elderly woman shakes her hand towards Nalara with indifference. "Put a couple of those back. I always give a little discount to the kids who'll sit and talk with me." She puts what the dark elf assumes is her order into a neat pile towards the entrance of the old tent.

"...Well. I guess i could tell you just a little bit." She couldn't find any harm in giving away such mundane details about her life. "I lived with my father for most of my life. He was a sort of... fungus farmer. Knew a little magic to make mushrooms grow. He wouldn't teach me, said he didn't want me to toil away with useless spells." Her eyes roll as the crone twitches with a well-meaning chuckle. "So I decided to take the shiny rocks and ores that the uplanders love that are so abundant and trade them. Of course, it either has to be pretty or useful, so the ones with flaws and the metals with little use are just a waste of time...." A short story ends up turning into a longer one as the sun starts its descent.
