Kinahen is a bastard, and has no proper recollection of his parents. Assumes he was abandoned.
He grew up in Sutica. He had no one to rely on, so he probably wouldn’t have survived in his earlier years if not for the kindness of strangers of the city-state. However, he still was somehow pulled into the wrong side of town, quickly learning that he lived in a bubble. He has always been prone to getting in trouble, either due to his looks, his big mouth or kleptomanic lifestyle. Once he wasn’t a helpless child anymore, people’s charitability ceased. So he lived fast.
Used to having ill luck. Had to learn to provide for himself, which is how he knows how to pick pockets, lockpick and disappear in a crowd. Bitter over his androgynous features. In a more racially mixed crowd is very consistently assumed to be a lady. Despite his distate for the notion, he learned to take advantage of it. He has a wide vocal range, and will take advantage of it if he intends to go with the flow.
He is very much a hermit. He has deep trust issues in people, therefore he’s incredibly secretive. At the moment, he has no one he trusts. Having grown up in Sutica, he has little to no knowledge of high elven lifestyle.
He is pretty shameless about his past lifestyle, and finds amusement in people’s shock in it. He’s sure he’d be considered promiscuous and a sodomite. But as he’s settling in Lareh’thilln, he realizes that he doesn’t want to get kicked out, so he starts trying to behave. But he needs help with that. And he’s going to have trouble asking for it.
He will tell a different story every time someone asks about his eye. He also wears gloves to hide his scarred hands. So while he has no real issue telling about all the trouble he has been involved in, he is quite insecure about his appearance, wishing his body was without fractures.
He has gotten in trouble with the underbelly of his hometown, and doesn’t feel even remotely safe anymore. He was told he should seek refuge with his own kind, so he traveled all the way from Sutica to Haelun’or in the hopes of a brighter future.
Kinahen was startled by the sudden encounter. He wasn’t expecting to stand out from the crowd just like that... Did that mean he wanted something from him? Should he feel scared or flattered? He crossed his arms and clicked his tongue. “What’s it to you? Can’t a man go where he pleases?” He eyed the man up and down. He seemed harmless. Perhaps he answered in haste. The short elf tilted his head, his grey locks falling before his only eye. He tucked it behind his ear, now attempting to be more polite. “Sorry, I’m-... I’m just traveling. I’m not really looking for anything in particular... Nothing grand, anyway... Just a place to call home, I guess.” He looked up at the man, wondering if he’d be judged by him.
