In your own words, what is powergaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: Powergaming is using unfair advantages to better your roleplay experience.
In your own words, what is metagaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: Metagaming is the use of knowledge your character wouldn't typically know unless they've learnt it through their time in lore. It should be avoided because it ruins the seriousness, and takes away the fun from the Experience. For example, knowing the names of characters you've never met before and using it in roleplay to approach them or either use their name in a roleplay scenario.

Indira was a woman of many words, although she now resides in Haelun'or, she often thought back to when it was referred to as Silver State.
Often spending her time within the library or as her close friend Candra would say "Wasting your life away', Indira was an archivist. Candra was a bit of a free spirit, although elves lived for quite a long time, Candra always said there as something to be done other than being couped up inside. She was powerful, the kind of person Indira looked up to, with her affinity to Fire and Air magic. Indira wasn't one to get jealous, but the way everyone looked and Candra was different, she had all the qualities Indira wished for in herself, kindness, beauty, power...Indira was beautiful, but she just couldn't see that herself, of course she still took pride in the way she carried herself, but she always wanted to be different. The decline took a toll on her. The kingdom had a lot of drawbacks, they had pulled funding from the library, meaning there was a decrease in pay, honestly it was quite damning for her, that's where most of her income resided. Sticking to her passion for books, she kept working, familiar faces had slowly retreated, one by one, until Candra came to her, she had urged her to come along with her, that this Kingdom was dying, and at a fast rate at that. Indira didn't want to see it, although she had sense, she quite liked it there, she had enough money for a meal a day, she had a roof over her head, but most importantly, she had her books. In the end Candra left, she wanted something more so she set sail, and crossed the sea. Hopefully something was there that she had needed.

Indira knew Candra was right, she could only survive with that little money for a short time, soon cost would go up, and then she would be stuck, that's when she decided to try and search for other means of income, for years she tried, taking odd jobs here and there, but nothing was sustainable, nothing was permanent. She would need to get stronger, maybe if she did that people would come and seek her to aid them in whatever their hearts desired. In Indira's mind had she found something powerful enough, she could take whatever she wanted, master her sought after crafts, possibly have land to call her own. The decline had taken a toll on her, and there was no family to help her, they had long died since she was in her 60's, her father was a boat captain, and her mother was one of his first crew mates. They often dealt with trading, taking supplies and selling it to the humans, until one day the humans got greedy, stowed away on their ship, and killed the crew, her parents included. As an only child it hurt, not knowing there was anyone looking out for you, or taking care of you anymore, although she had been independent since she could walk, she still relied on their income.

Roleplay Scenario:

Arriving at the quaint town, it's air was filled with dust. It didn't take a birds eye view to see this place wasn't properly maintained, but alas, Indira only needed a place to rest for the night. Wandering around she came across an alley way. Something about it emitted curiosity within her, the floating lights captured her, compelling her to walk through it. Walking through the alley way she was met with a small room, an old crone sitting at a table with cards lined across the table, not the strangest thing she had seen in the world wind of a day she had been having.

"What Brings you to this dingy town?"
She said with a slight cough following afterwards. Indira was always one to be weary of others, but she could tell the crone wasn't hostile, the hairs on her arms would have raised up had she been feeling any strangeness, or that familiar pit in her stomach would be gnawing at her , or maybe that only happened when she was hungry.

"Ah, it's you. I've been expecting you. Sit."

She said after looking Indira up and down, proceeding to point at the chair that floated from holding the old wooden door open, to the other end of the table. The door closed, encasing the room in darkness.

"Clap, Clap."

Was the only thing heard, and with that a flicker of lights came on. The candles had been lit, Magic is truly a spectacle. Sitting down at the seat that was given to her, she was nervous. This crone was the real deal, not the kind of shady scammers who'd sell you their right shoe marketing it as a magic shoe that allows you to fly, Indira had ran into many of them trying to do this very thing. She was curious, as to where this would lead, so she leaned in, ready to give the hag her full attention.

"Where do you come from?"

The crone began picking up the cards from the table, shuffling them, and then lying them on their backs, they remained concealed to Indira.

"I've come from Haelu'nor. Took me 2 weeks to get here by foot."

She was sure that she could trust her, this lady didn't really seem like the gossip type, so she decided to be truthful with her, who knows if she had some nasty spell to detect when people were lying.

"What do you have to make of yourself?"

She said as she begin picking up individual cards, placing them upright onto the table. The sun, The Empress, The world and The Star.

"Well, that's really a difficult question to answer..."

Indira cleared her throat and began fiddling with her thumbs. She had never thought much about what she wanted to become.

"I guess it'd be someone people will remember. . ."

She said as she shifted in her chair, and fiddled with her fingers.

"Whatever you choose to do, the fates are on your side. I've drawn very lucky cards, girl."

Curious to the cards she had placed, she picked them up carefully analyzing them.

'You'd do best to stick to your mind and heart. It's the only things that have a true path."

The crow then gestured to the wooden door, It creaked as it magically opened. Indira standing up, walked towards it. The chair that had been moved to the table began to creep behind her, assuming the same position behind the door. Turning around and looking at the Old witch, she waved, with a light smile. She wasn't entirely sure of the events that happened, but she didn't want to question it.
