You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

As I held back the disgust at the old crone welling up, I put on my most charming smile. "Well aren't you a beautiful one! It seems like you already know me Milady, but I will never turn down the opportunity to regale others with my claim to fame!" I unceremoniously plopped myself down on to the cushion, even adjusted myself to multiple different positions until I settled with lying on my side like some god waiting to be fed grapes. "Hmmmm now where do I begin?" I said rubbing my chin with a smirk across my face. "Ooo I know why not the beginning?" I declared victoriously. "I grew up in small village to the south. Well more accurately the surrounding forest and plains. My parents could never keep home for long. Always off to my next adventure!" I smiled as my eyes glazed over seemingly filled with sweet memories. It wasn't long before that smile slowly became more of a sad smile. I sighed, "Some days I wish I would of listened to them more. I was nabbed by group of bandits one day while I was slaying a dreaded beast, a rotted trunk I drew a face on!" I chuckled as I stared wistfully at a floating candle. "At the time I wasn't sure how far they took me, it was all a haze of tears and shock. But I came to find out it was very far to the north. They sold me to some underground fighting ring, one of those that rich people get their rocks off betting on some poor sod. I had to help clean and feed the animal pens until they thought I could finally hold a sword upright." At this point the smile faded from my lips, as I recalled the terrible things I experienced. But I quickly tried to hide it with a cough and resumed smiling. "But luckily for me and them, I turned out to be a natural born fighter! See not a single scar on my face! I quickly learned the ropes and became a fan favorite. I could bore you all day and night with the stories of my countless victories but I digress. Eventually some rich fancy pants took a liking to me and decided to buy my freedom. Said that I was a star in the making. Told me to go and make a name for myself! I will eventually pay him back as soon as I do what he said and make a name for myself." I stared up into the corner of the tent trying my best to look heroic. "But that's enough about me Milady. I want to know about you and how you know me!" I gestured at a cushion not far from me, "Tell me your story."
