You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”
((How do you respond?))
"Huh? Thats a weird way to greet someone." Solfri pauses, before sitting down and looking back at the hag. "Well, I suppose I'm out looking for my brother: tall lad, face similar to mine, raging anger problems and absolutely helpless without me? I'm assuming he's the reason you've been expecting me, so I guess let me tell you the story of how our family tore itself apart..."

How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: For me personally, roleplay is about creating a story that I can write and enjoy with friends and fellow roleplayers, the enjoyment comes from creating a great story with twists and challenges and powergaming spoils the fun for everyone involved. That's why I impose the "rule of probability", a rule of would my character do such a thing? Does it fit their personality, goals, and motives? Could my character do such a thing? I find asking myself these questions helps me better bring a character to life.
How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: Metagaming directly goes against a character's being and disrupts a story's flow by bringing in outside information and motives. By metagaming, you might change your actions or do something you would not have done originally without any outside information, resulting in an unfair and disadvantageous situation for all other involved parties who are simply acting as their characters would, with only information their characters have privy to, while you are utilizing information and motives that does not belong to your character.
