In your own words, what is powergaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: Well it's important to maintain and play chars that are based in reality, even if this is a fantasy world we're playing in. For example, a tailor won't be able to perform an impressive battle with three raider Orcish warriors and win the fight unscatched. It's likely they would be killed with ease. You must make sure to only be skillful in the things your char is actually good at, but not only that, but also avoid making a "Mary Sue' in a sense. You shouldn't be able to be good in an unseemly amount of things and skills. Don't perform magical feats that you don't have perms for and try to be as practical and act with as much common sense as you may have.
In your own words, what is metagaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: Metagaming is incredibly disruptive to just about any kind of scene you may think of. It disrupts the flow of natural events that started the scenario towards its end. Realistically, a person wouldn't magically gain information prudent to the scenario, so why should chars have the ability to do so? Everything must be kept non meta in order to keep the scenario as organic as possible. Not to mention, any and all information that people IC'ly know must be kept strictly IC. This mean that if you were told about it by your buddy OOC'ly and then going to act on said information to disrupt one's RP not only would constitute punishment but also ruin the immersion and natural feeling of RP'ing for everyone involved.

Character Name: Dexra
Character Race: Goblin
Character Gender: Female
Character Age: 24
Physical Description: Female, long messy hair, leather clothing, reserved demenour, armed, 4'2, 128 Cm, dark brown hair, wild orange eyes, lithe, toned.
Roleplay Scenario:

Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

*Dexra slowly headed on inside the tent, flipping the entrance wrappings over as her smaller frame made itself known from the darkness. The Hag regarded her, with her slightly bandaged ears twitching to the noise of her voice. She had not known her voice, this being the first time she heard such, but as she looked upon the woman, she soon recollected her purpose and her appearance to herself. Indeed, this was the woman she had heard of within the swamp as she wandered through the woods, having gained the information that she is willing to teach an apprentice her swamp magic. She'd lower my hood as she looked at her, crossing her arms as she sought to show a feigned sense of confidence. But in truth, she was out of her element... having lived in the wilds alone for so long had made her a little aloof at times when it came to speaking with others. Her accented voice would be heard as she spoke to her. "So ya's the Hag I kept 'earin' words about... well... I'm 'ere lookin' fa ya. Is it true ya can teach people... swamp magic? I'm... livin' out there by meself, ya see... I's need some magic. The Humies 'ave been tryin' ta get closah an' closah to me 'ome... an' I need somethin' more strong ta repel them! So... what'll it be, big Hag woman... ya gonna 'elp me or not? I's got no magic that I can cast... so I's need someone ta teach me ta do it!". I'd wait for her response, but it seemed I needed to explain myself more.

"I ain't really what ya'd call a errhhh... "Camp Goblin". No... I've been livin' by meself for a long time now. My previous warband I was with got killed by Humies... so evah since, I've jus' lived alone. As much as raidin' was fun back in the day... I don't wanna do much o' that anymore. I jus' wanna live in the woods, away from any Humie an' raise me lil' beasts. Ahh yeah... I haven't mentioned that yet, 'ave I? I's got a herd o' frogs I feed at 'ome! Yeah, yeah... they's real precious things... an' they's venomous, too! Make sure ta milk 'em fa some nice venom an' I give 'em some nice treats as a reward!". She'd snicker, smiling as her sharp, shark like teeth were on show, evidently one or two teeth missing. An old hint of her warlike nature from when she still followed such a lifestyle.*.
