Samuel III Bealcrest was born to Konrad Bealcrest and Agnes, his father is the descendant of Hochmeister Samuel and he bears a striking resemblance to the two. His family lineage is one of nobility, both in blood and in characteristics. Samuel was named thusly after his eight great grandfather because he aspired to live up to his image, that of a lowly blacksmith turned sariant-knight turned Hochmeister and King of Hanseti.
His childhood has consisted of a wealthy education, trained in the arts of poetry, horse riding and archery. He was very skilled on horseback but lacked the finesse of an archer. Samuel excelled and pushed himself in the field of horse riding because at the age of ten he fell from horseback and damaged his left leg, leaving him partly crippled and ruined his dreams of knighthood, however, his pursuit of his dreams encouraged him back to his horse and allowed him to triumph over his failures.
