How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: All my gameplay should not be forcing on others in a way where they feel checkmated, all attacks for example can be parried, dodged, or reacted to. They also never decide the reaction from the opponent but leave it up to them to decide what to do next.
How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: It breaks emersion by bringing in information or knowledge the supposed character cannot know or shouldn't know, and ruins the entire experience including the realism and the fun of character development through game knowledge

You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”
