Akihiko Renji was born in the small village of Kura-Kuni, a peaceful community in the region of Azuras, where his parents worked as modest craftsmen. He was brought up amidst the steady sound of crafting and rigorous lessons taught by his parents who taught the importance of discipline. As early as possible, he started training himself with forms every morning and calligraphy writing in the evening. Despite loving his birthplace very much, Akihiko always had the feeling that the outside world was waiting for him and that he should grow above everything around him. Upon reaching maturity, he left his native village with nothing more than his travel bag and knowledge from his parents.
The traveller has just arrived in a small town. As they look around, their gaze is met with run down houses and shops. They duck into one of the shacks, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the small room, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town?" She begins, then pauses to study their face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a chair, “Where do you come from? What do you hope to make of yourself?”

*Akihiko enters the shack, shaking off dust from his sleeve in the faint light of the candle. As he approaches the chair where the old hag beckons, his descent into the seat is measured, almost precise.*
"I come from Kura-Kuni,"
*says Akihiko calmly, looking straight into her eyes.*
"The people I come from lived peaceful lives in Kura-Kuni. My family worked as artisans, which taught me discipline."
*Akihiko places his hands on his knees, and taps his thumb gently, as though steadying himself.*
"It was only natural that after being raised among those familiar streets that I wanted to experience something more, explore more of Azuras."
*His eyes harden.*
"The kind of person I wish to become is one that is worthy of my name."
