You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

Dai hesitates, his eyes darting around the dimly lit tent before finally settling on the old hag. He shifts uncomfortably on his feet before sitting gingerly on the cushion. As he begins to speak in a soft, hesitant voice, his hands move in fluid motions, accompanying his words with signs in Common Sign Language (CSL).
"I... I'm not sure where to begin," he says, his voice almost a whisper, while his hands form the signs. "My earliest memory was being on the streets stealimg whatever i could to make ends meet"
Soi pauses, his voice catching slightly, and his hands slow their movements, reflecting his struggle to recall the fragmented memories. "I've been wandering since then, trying to figure out how to live among people. But it's hard. I'm a dark elf," he explains, his signs emphasizing his words, "and most don't take kindly to my kind."
"I don't know why I'm here, in this town," he admits, looking up at the old hag with a mixture of curiosity and vulnerability. "But you said you were expecting me. Why? What do you know about me?" His eyes search hers for answers as his hands fall still.
