Koffi l'Blanc, the youngest of his brothers, thus the weakest, tended to the animals (pigs, chicken, cows, etcetera) in the l'Blanc family farm in Lorraine. He had an affinity for animals, they were his passion. It was often that he would return to his brothers grimy and covered in dust and manure for he slept among the animals in the barn instead of his own home, among family. Koffi was never the smartest or strongest when he was younger, but he loved nature, he foraged for wild mushrooms and had his fair share of near death experiences; these often weighed on his brothers who sometimes had to watch him for days, which stunted their ability to work. When the Imperium of Man took Lorraine, he was separated from his brothers while attempting to flee from their burning farm which was ignited by the Imperium. After a year of taking odd jobs to live he finally caught wind of one of his brothers location, he had found Pierre. Shortly after this he quit his jobs, gathered what little he had, and set out to attempt to join his brother as a soldier of the Imperium of Man.
The traveller has just arrived in a small town. As they look around, their gaze is met with run down houses and shops. They duck into one of the shacks, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the small room, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town?" She begins, then pauses to study their face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a chair, “Where do you come from? What do you hope to make of yourself?”
Koffi nods, his eyes bouncing across the room, searching for any signs of danger as he takes a seat. He smiles, the lingering dust in the air tickling his nostrils as the loneliness of this dilapidated cabin eases his mind and the rolling fog outside spills in through splits in the very bones of this place. "I aim to reunite with my family, madame. I hail from the south, from Lorraine. I dare say it's been almost a year by this time." His hand lowers to scoop up a spider from the floor, he winces when it sinks its teeth into him, but he neither drops nor crushes it, simply muttering under his breath "Putain de merde..." he recenters himself and resumes speaking, "I'm not the best with numbers nor the date, but if there is one thing I know for certain it is that where one of my brothers pops up another is surely nearby. He smiles down at the spider, tapping it's small head before allowing it to scurry into the far reaches of the cabin, watching it until it melds with the dark. "I say that I cannot properly answer one of your questions though miss, I'm uncertain of what I wish to be but a soldier and comrade of my brethren. I care for little more than that, I have no other aspirations." He smiles wider now as he speaks, "Surely, I pray that I don't find myself a few feet under feeding the trees anytime soon! And oui, I've plenty of good fight in my bones! Tell me ever honest though, sole occupant of this baren town, you say that you were expecting me, no? But how could that be? I know you not and I'm in no way known to many, in fact I declare I'm not even known by few."
