How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: You avoid powergaming through writing your emotes to "attempt" an attack instead of forcing actions onto people.
How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: Metagaming disrupts roleplay because it gives the metagamer an unfair information advantage that they can use for in-character benefit, as well as breaking the immersion of the world.
    Status: Accepted

You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

((How do you respond?))

I wager you've seen your fair share of winters, too. I come to this town for the reasons that any traveller might. Adventure. Purpose. Salvation. I will found out which one it is in due time."
