    How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: It's when a character utilises information the player learned outside of the roleplay world.
    How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: Powergaming is the action of not roleplaying fairly with other people and making yourself the strongest.

After setting exchanging goodbyes with his parents Kalev sets sail. A few days go by and he sees city lights.

"Hello, good sir." I say "I've come here to start a journey to glory."

the gentleman responds "Ah, quite common these days. I suggest finding a good place to sleep such as an inn west of here."

"Thank you but may I ask, who might you be? A nobleman perhaps?" I say with a confused look

"Oh you humble me. I am just a merchant and you can find my shop in the city center although I'm leaving fairly soon."

"I see. Well I'll check it tomorrow, have a good one." I respond and start walking to the city center wondering if I'll see that merchant again.
