In your own words, what is powergaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: My goal is to keep things fair among all parties involved. As someone coming from D&D, I find that it can be unfair to perform impossible feats compared to other characters and can make them feel helpless or worthless. I have been in moments where I "forced emotes" on others in D&D and the DM corrected me. With some thought after the session, I came to realize that controlling how another character reacts is rude to the player and can hijack the story.
In your own words, what is metagaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: Metagaming not only is a form of cheating, but ruins the story. I found that in Minecraft it is the ups and downs that make the game. If you leave your pet dog in your house at all times, they may be safe, but will become more of a furniture piece than a pet you truly love. One with a dog who followed them to the end loves their dog much more than the one that freezes them in time. This applies to metagaming. Say your character get's stollen from and wants to track down the burglar. While metagaming may make it easier to retrieve the stollen items and get revenge, it also sucks all the drama out of the story and makes things narratively boring. Even an unplanned happenstance of finding the burglar would be much more interesting than metagaming to track them down.

Character Name: Chuck Bupbottom
Character Race: Halfling
Character Gender: Male
Character Age: 35
Physical Description: 2' 5" tall and weighing 90 lbs. Dark, ruddy hair (possibly caked in mud) with a long beard. One pink eye one yellow eye. Simple green shirt and pants.
Roleplay Scenario:

Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

As Chuck plops down on the cushion in front of the hag, his arms flail a second to regain balance. Once regained, he smiles at the hag with a sheepish grin. "It was a lot to get these ingredients. Took me a long while to get the carving right and even longer to drag it all the way from my burrow. But 'ere it is!" Chuck quickly and dangerously yanks a pumpkin from the sack on his back by it's stem, over his head, and on to the ground nearly breaking it. "One icon of the Pumpkin Lord, as promised," Chuck beamed as he presented his work.
