Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”
((How do you respond?))
Jeohr hesitated before the seat, then slowly lowered himself onto it, the fabric sinking beneath his weight as the candlelight flickered across his eyes, shimmering like a twinkling star. He clasped his hands together, thumbs brushing nervously as he looked up at the hag.
“I’m Jeohr,” he began, his voice steady but uncertain, “and I suppose I’m here to open new things to discover.” He glanced around the tent, then exhaled softly, as if the air itself was heavy with unspoken memories. “It’s been a long venture—one without a map, rejection aplenty. I’ve been wandering, not knowing where to land or even who I’m meant to search for.”
He lifted a hand to his temple, wincing slightly as if grasping at something just out of reach. “Everything feels like mist to me right now. Faces, places, names… they slip away the moment I try to remember them.” He straightened a little, meeting her gaze with quiet resolve. “All I know is that to start small, look around and search, and follow whispers instead of answers.” After a brief pause, he added, “If you truly were expecting me, then maybe you’re the first clear step I’ve had in a very long time.”
