How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: Rather than emoting the result of your action, emote the intention. Don't outright force an outcome; rather than emoting something along the lines of "Joe's sword pierces the armor, leaving behind a nasty, ragged slash" write something like "Joe's blade is swung through the air, careening towards Bob's chest."
How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: Metagaming goes against what a character should have the ability to do and gives the player an unfair advantage, disrupting the ability for other players to properly roleplay and going against logic. For example, Joe is plotting to overthrow Bob, and Bob's player decides that Bob should suddenly mount a force against Joe, despite not having that information IC. This interrupts the flow of roleplay. Bob's player is prioritizing themselves over a good give-and-take story, and Joe's player now doesn't have the opportunity to engage in roleplay the way they wanted.

You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

((How do you respond?))

"Why, me?" The girl tilts her head, letting little golden ringlets tumble over her face. She raises a quizzical brow, studying the woman's face in return. "Well, I certainly hope you haven't heard anything too slanderous. Despite what they all say, I am a lady, and they would do right to treat me that way. Hmmph. A ruffian, they call me," she huffs, plopping herself heavily into the cushion. "The nerve."

Despite her assertions, the 'lady' in question has a rather prominent bruise across her cheek from what one could only assume was a scuffle. The longer she speaks, the more accurate this assumption becomes.

"As for what brings me here? Well, it's a rather... hmm, how do I put it? Unique. Yes. It's a unique stop on my journey back home after my untimely dismissal from the school. Perhaps that's for the best. Between the two of us, I never liked that place. But I would have much preferred to go out on my own terms. If it were my choice, I would have simply left a long time ago. The girls there... tch." Viktoriya straightens to accentuate her point, sitting up and crossing one ankle over the other. "I can only hope my mother and the rest of the family will understand that... well, that it was all a misunderstanding. Regardless. I'm quite anxious to get back home. It will be a welcome change. Being the youngest child by quite a long shot is somehow the lesser of two evils."

The girl refocuses her pale gaze back onto the old hag before her. "Ah, forgive me. I've been rambling on quite a while. I believe it's your turn. Why, perchance, were you expecting me, as you put it?"

Hi, just a small unofficial note here: I will be contacting TreeSmoothie (the leader of the Tcecsar family in-game) to ensure that you have permission to play a character in her dynasty! That said, please be patient with me as I review your application.
