The Cui family lived on a small island to the south of the mainland, where they owned a private estate. This is where Xiuying grew up and lived her early days in isolation. Along with her lived her mother, father, grandmother, and the servants that tended to the land. Needless to say, there wasn’t anyone else close to her age. No brothers or sisters, nor anyone to relate or interact with. Her days were filled with endless study and practice involving history, calligraphy, dance, art, and the like. During her studies she learned about Arcas and all of these amazing places, yet she could never go. She was trapped. As she grew older Ying became more and more tired of living this sort of lifestyle, yet the thought of running away scared her. She still loved her parents and wanted no quarrel with them, but staying there any longer would kill her inside. A choice had to be made, but did she have the courage to make it? Instead of facing them directly (which would have been a smarter option), she began to construct a small raft that could get her away. Each piece of wood she attached she regretted, yet every day she added more to the raft whenever she could. Even after it was completed it took many days of indecisiveness before she impulsively pushed the raft into the water. Enough was enough. Xiuying silently watched her home get smaller and smaller as she floated away without ever saying goodbye. Her supplies only lasted her a couple of days on the water, yet she was lucky enough to end up on a ship that would take her to the mainland. One journey of seasickness later, she had finally made it. She was dropped off in Sutica, and her adventures in Arcas began. Ying had decided that she wanted to be an explorer that saw all there was to see in this land, and she got to fulfilling that dream right away. Soon after arriving she paid visit to all of the Human settlements like Haense and Fenn to get to know her way around. That was a month ago, and now she’s working on getting herself established in this strange new land while keeping her head down in case her family came after her.

“Uh...” Xiuying wasn’t sure what to say at first as she was still taking in all of the scenery. It was the first time she’s seen so much color in person, and it was mesmerizing. “Yes, something like that...” She responds quietly, holding her stomach as she wobbled off the pier and towards the bazaar. If she said anything else she was in danger of losing her lunch. The seasickness still had its grasp on her. Still, Ying felt bad about being short towards the man who attempted to welcome her. So, before leaving the area she slowly turned and gave him a polite bow in thanks, then continued on her way. Most likely someplace where she could recover from the trip.
