    How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: Metagaming is the act of using out of character information (for example from the server wiki) to gain knowledge they would not otherwise know. in character. For example, reading about certain magic abilities on the server wiki. Then suddenly gaining the power to use them in game/character.
    How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: Powergaming is the act of carrying out actions that your character wouldn't normally be able to do. Such as instant kill someone in combat. Another good example of this is actively ignoring mental and physical effects that have been dealt to you in combat.

I approach the gentleman as if I’ve known him my entire life. As we all know dwarves aren’t the sharpest tools in the toolbox.

 

I respond by saying “Hello there. My name is Karmida. Nice to meet you. I am looking to improve my skills in blacksmithing, as well as to find the best resources possible.”

 

Depending on his response, I would either follow him to wherever he was going to take me. I would keep my guard up the entire time thinking there might be an ambush. However, if he just wishes me well, and tells me the best places to visit, I would then proceed to go to those places.
