In his early years, Egil grew up in Banarda which resides in Aeldin. He lived a relatively happy life as the son of a fisherman. His mother was a dutiful and caring housewife and during his later years, encouraged him to train to fight with the local militia. It was here he gained understanding of the Canonist faith. Egil’s father taught him the practical things of life whereas his mother taught him how to speak atleast some Flexio and how to play an instrument. Once he had completed his training with the militia and his Father was nearing death, Egil began to save up money to get himself a boat. He struggled at first but he put the militia training to good use and his Father also helped him out with his endeavours by using the last of his energy to gain just enough money for Egil to finally get that boat. Before setting off however, Egil stayed at his home to aid and comfort his Father in passing along to the other side. Once this had happened, his grief-stricken Mother ended her own life, believing Egil was going to leave her and that there was nothing left for her in life. Burning with a new desire to make his parents proud, and desperate to leave the palce where his parents had died, Egil set sail on his boat and headed for Arcas in search of a better life.
