They were born on the Aos side of the Mortal Realm, one face of the great coin that makes up Aos and Eos, with the Nether lying between. Growing up in a quiet, forested region of Aos, they were raised in a small, struggling family that valued survival over comfort. Their early life was shaped by hardship, learning to tend wounds and endure pain, which explains the bandages they still wear. Despite the calm surroundings, tension from the unstable balance between Aos and Eos often crept into their home, leaving them restless and uneasy.
As they grew older, curiosity and unease began to outweigh their attachment to home. Stories of the other side of the realm and the dangers hidden between the two worlds pulled at them, making it impossible to stay. After a final disagreement with their family, they chose to leave, seeking answers and a sense of purpose beyond the forests they once called home. Now, they wander the Mortal Realm, carrying both the weight of their past and the quiet determination to understand the world they were born into.
The traveller has just arrived in a small town. As they look around, their gaze is met with run down houses and shops. They duck into one of the shacks, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the small room, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town?" She begins, then pauses to study their face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a chair, “Where do you come from? What do you hope to make of yourself?”

They hesitate for a moment before stepping forward, the wooden floor creaking under their weight. Slowly, they pull out the chair and sit, one hand instinctively adjusting their glasses while the other rests against the bandages on their arm.
“I come from Aos,” they say quietly, their voice steady but tired. “The forests mostly… nothing special, just somewhere people try to get by.” Their gaze drifts briefly to the floating candles before returning to the old woman.
They lean back slightly, exhaling through their nose. “As for what I plan to make of myself… I’m still figuring that out.” A faint, almost humorless smile tugs at their lips.
“I didn’t leave home for nothing, though,” they continue, fingers lightly tapping against the arm of the chair. “There’s something out here—between Aos, Eos… maybe even deeper than that. I intend to find it.”
