You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”
((How do you respond?))
Exhausted from a long journey, I sit down. After a short moment of silence, I look at the old woman and say: ”You want to hear my story, eh? Well it ain't very interesting, but I'll bite.” I pause for a few seconds before continuing. ”Name's Galdohr. I come from the mountains. My mother left shortly after my birth and my father was part of the Legion. He died in the War of the Wigs when I was young.” I utter while looking down at the floor in a slight show of sorrow. ”I didn't have any close relatives left, but I ended up being adopted by a local blacksmith. I would help him in the workshop and sometimes, although rarely, the hunters would let me join them in the forest. I'd been doing that until recently, but I've decided to venture out and explore these lands. My current aim is to get to Kal'Darakaan.” I finish talking and notice I feel rested enough to keep going. ”Anyway, It's been nice speaking to you, but I've still got places to be. Farewell.” I say as I stand up and move towards the tent's opening at a slow but steady pace.

How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: I always try to assess whether what I'm trying to do would go well with my character's backstory and skillset, while also considering other people's intentions and expectations. Even in regular RPGs, I often make choices that aren't as beneficial to me or my character as the other available options are if I feel like they're not a good fit for my character's story.
How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: Depending on the situation, its effects can range from giving a player an unfair advantage over others, to completely ruining everyone's immersion by disrupting their roleplaying experience.
