- A quick glimpse of the past.
Anastacius, or rather known more often by the name of Anastacia, is an eighteen year old teenager of Highlander descent who born within the heart of Hanseti. He knew little to nothing about his parents. Unlike most, his life stumbled in poverty and was forced to survive within the slums. As an infant, he was raised by a couple who later met their end as they were hunted down over unpaid debts or some sort. It was around the age of five when that happened. Anastacia began to realize that the world wasn't all sunshine and stars.
Fortunately, a band of mercenaries found him and took him in. They were a group of nothing more than middle-aged or older men and women who had long lost their youth but still bore a strong will. With enough coin to spare, they made sure he was fed, clothed and cared for. More importantly, they taught him the way how the world works; where the rich devour while the poor are devoured. However, one gave a message; "This, that, just don't forget to smile. Emotion is one heck' of a weapon."
It lingered within his head for a long time, or maybe eternity. Was it the reason of why he often seen full of life? To conceal himself from the harsh world?
Years passed, when he reached a certain age where they deemed him ready. He joined as one of them, though not long after the group eventually disbanded. Each of them went on their way, while Anastacia remained on the edge of a cliff; hunging onto his life. Still running errands for others and still drifting forward without a clear direction.
- Now, to the PRESENT.
After a long night walk, Anastacia finally arrived at a bustling town; the place he had long intended to visit. As he wandered through, one building finally perked his gaze. It was a tavern in the distance. He began to make his way toward it. Air briefly let out as boots tapped the ground, pausing momentarily before he pushed the door. A faint jingle of the doorbell followed; "DINGGLINGDINGDING.."
His eyes couldn't stop glancing from one to another; until a familiar figure across the room waved at him. Anastacia immediately caught the gesture, what was once a gloomy expression quickly shifted into a smile as if he was exciting about something. Well, the fact that he was genuinely excited to see that figure. His feet moved instinctively, approaching the figure.
That figure, happened to be an old acquaintance; someone he once worked with as a mercenary. The lady stood taller than Anastacia, and older too; often seeing herself as something of an older sister to him. She too, seemed delightful to see him. Her elbow was rested on the table and had her cheek placed gently over her knuckles, watching him as her head tilting to the side after he sat down as if she already knew what he was about to say.
She murmured as a smirk crossed her face.
" What now? Another one you're going to share..? " She was right. Like a child to their mother after finding something new, Anastacia was eager to share another story.
He giggled before speaking up, his tone was full of life;
" Hey-hey! Did you knowww... I was given a job that's quite boring.. BUT! "
He jolted a finger while his grin widened.
" I learned a lot from that job! Like how to manage wheat, and other things too. It wasn't much, really.. but still- It was fun in its own way! "
As he talked, his body moved constantly; his head swaying side to side while both hands gesturing to paint the picture of what he had done.
The lady laughed softly in amusement.
“ Is that so..? Good for you. I assume by the looks of it, nothing has gone wrong, no? ”
Anastacia gave a firm nod in response, his smile still lingering. The lady couldn't help but to continue to smile aswell as it was quite contagious. They carried their conversation on for hours. When the day finally ended. Finally the time for him to continue on his way.
As time always does, it kept moving forward.
Nothing stays forever
Eventually, they parted ways once more as they considered that they had spent enough of their time together.
His life still continues.
