How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: Metagaming is knowing something then making you know it as a character. Like if I know where to find something rare because someone told me about it, then my character knows it, but she was never told. That would be metagaming.
How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: Powergaming is making my character do something they cannot do, like killing someone with a spoon when they have a sword. Or if I say I'm going to do something an the other person cannot stop me. "I stab you in the heart" instead of "I try to stab you in the heart". Like in DnD, we describe trying -> roll -> see if works. "I would like to thrust my sword towards the ghouls heart" -> roll -> "It goes through chest" or "It goes a little into chest but not killing" or "goul steps out of the way in time"
