You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

Atticus dusted himself off, knocking the mud off his boots before he stepped deeper into the tent and moving to take a seat. "How much time do ya' have?" Atticus chuckled a bit as he removed his riding gloves and sat them next to him. "I'm here for the reason I'm always taken through places like this, your little town sits along a trade route. Been riding the routes since I was sixteen and I managed to tame my first mare. Good day that, thats the day me and Charles met, and he's been my lucky token ever since, got a great mane he does. He's gotten' me out of more than one bad situation, from storms to wolves, he's a good one." Atticus searched through his bag as he continued to speak, eventually pulling out a waterskin. "Where was I, oh yeah, Charles. Well after I tamed Charles, I was sent to follow along my first caravan. Wasn't trading much, just leftover feed being sent as apart of some deal. But man my young self enjoyed that ride more than anything, saw my first tavern brawl on that trip, watched a man get his front teeth knocked out, rough business that. Never been too much of a fighter when I was young, but spending so much time on the road ya learn a thing 'r two." He rotated his arm in a stretching motion as he seemed to be reminiscing on some old pains. "But ya know, stayed out of trouble, and now the family trusts me enough to handle delivery of different goods here and there. Sticking around with that for now, quite enjoy life in the saddle. It lets me see a lot, gets me good stories ya know. Also get the chance to visit churches other than the ones back home, always quite liked 'em. No matter how far ya go somethin' bout a reading of the scrolls to make you feel like you haven't gone too far. Plan to buy myself some historical works if I ever get some down time, read more in depth about the holy scrolls and stories from them. For now though the road brings me plenty comfort, and Charles is good company."
The man took another sip from his waterskin as he leaned back, awaiting a response from the woman.
