How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: I avoid powergaming by creating characters with realistic flaws and clearly defined goals. Realistic flaws help me stay in character. They also tend to tell a more compelling story, and discourage unrealistically strong character traits/abilities. I avoid making characters who have traits or goals that could be associated with powergaming (avarice, power-hungry, duplicitous, etc) to create a more fair character and have more fun with the experience. I also create characters who are more rational and grounded.
How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: Metagaming has the potential to ruin roleplay through providing information that is known out of character. This leads to poor roleplaying on the part of the metagamer, as well as giving them an unfair advantage and a worse experience for everyone involved. In my opinion, it takes a lot of the fun out of roleplaying and should be avoided to enhance the roleplay experience.

You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

((How do you respond?))

Clyrik briefly inspects the cushion, and, seeing nothing out of the ordinary, takes a seat. "Thank ye, ma'am. My journey's not been an easy one, as I'm sure ye can imagine."

He continues, "Ye must already know, but I am Clyrik of the Grandaxe. I've come to ye all the way from Kal'Darakaan, if you'd believe it. If I'm bein' honest with ye, it's my first time really leavin' the city. Quite the adobe ye've got 'ere." He pauses take in your surroundings, nodding to himself. Everything around him seems so peculiar and derelict compared to the splendor of his city. He's never been this far from home, or this close to sea level, for that matter.

After a long and uncomfortable silence, he continues, "I should probably explain what brought me here, though, shouldn't I?" He begins again, with more urgency and a hint of desperation, "I'm just a city guard, a nobody. A simple dwarf with an axe. Only been serving for 3 years or so, ever since my 19th. Even I'm a bit confused as to why they sent me, I'm not much of an emissary! Before I started serving, I was a silversmith's apprentice. Not much use to me now!" He pauses to take a deep breath, and continues in a more concise manner, resolving to not ramble, "I am here to ask for your help. My commander told me there're whispers of hostile forces mounting in the South, and I'm afraid we might need all the allies we can get. Can you help us?"

Hi there! As you can see, your app is almost ready! Just a few changes you need to make, but don’t worry - you are doing great!

You have done extremely well so far! There are a few things you need to change. When it comes to roleplaying on Lord of the Craft, you must use a third person format. Using words such as His, He, et cetera when referring to your own character instead of using "You". For example, when describing actions for your own character, instead of saying "You feel a chill down your spine" you would instead say "He felt a chill down his spine." And one more thing, you should not state the actions/dialogue of a character that is not your own, and I would recommend merely keeping the dialogue as your character speaking/acting and remove the dialogues you placed for the Hag. Other than that, you are on the right path!

You’ll be given 48 hours to correct the changes above. Once you are done correcting, please contact me!

I recommend going to the New player’s category, going to help chat. Pinging @Community team saying “I’m new and would like some help with my application. I got put on pending!” If I or another team member can not be reached.
