As my mother told me when I was a young lad, I was a very loud child. I always had a fit when nothing went my way at one point I vividly remember smashing a window when my father took my toy away. When I was 7 my sister Alva was born, but in the process my mother had died gifting the miracle of life onto her. My father fell into a deep despair afterwards but always cared deeply for Alva and myself.
Alva was a feisty child when growing up, when she was 9 she broke a friends someone's nose for taking her doll ,Claire. I was 16 then and I had a job a local bakery sweeping and trying to keep the rats out of the cellar of the place, but one particular day I seen a guard come in and he had scars and bits of dry blood on his clothes. He got food and left the store and a crowd of people swarmed him for he helped save a our home Helena from a small group of undead, they had been growing in numbers through out the years but we did not think much of it since we were all busy with our daily lives. Since then I wanted to be a protector of the realms and all, I wanted the glory and recognition of all who saw me and felt praise.
That one night....that faithful night, I had heard my father yelling for me from my sisters room, she had recently fallen ill from an unknown disease even the highest doctors couldn't figure out. I walked in and my father was by her bedside, crying, clutching her hand tight and she was facing my direction looking at me, her eyes empty as could be is as if a spirit held possession of her, her body covered in purple sores. I said her name and she did not respond. “She is gone Edward.” my father cried out I fell to my knees and hid my face and wept tears for what felt like an eternity.
We buried her next to our mother and on the grave it wrote “Alva Moon:1700-1714, may she rest in piece and watch over others.” Since that day we moved to the town of Reza, to get away from all of our pains back in Helena. I became a guard and by then my father had disappeared only with a note left at home saying “I’ve already lost most of my family Edward, if you my only son have to be this protector then you are a fool! I am going far from here to end this pain. May the gods shine on you and may them have mercy for me as what i’m about to do.”
I stare at the sharply dressed man “I have no business with you stranger, but since you ask I am here to be the shield and sword of the realm. I aspire to protect those who can’t fight and beat those who dare harm others.”
