Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”
((How do you respond?))
Arno furrows his brow, wary but on best behaviour given he is far from the Under-Realm and not as used to surface norms
"Aye well seeing you asked politely I see no harm" - he slowly sits on the cushion eyeing the suspended candles warily... witches magic blegh
"I'm Arno Ironpike, me Da named me after a friend of his who helped our family in years gone by. I left home recently to travel up to the Great Kingdom of Urguan for work and to experience the world proper like" he relaxes thinking of home and family, the conversation feeling more familiar now.
"My family will be safe and sound in the smaller hold I hail from, Dwarves are too stubborn to get forced out of anywhere they want to be, and that includes me!" Arno lets out a small chuckle at a joke the old hag is not privy too. "I'm a dwarf of caves and tunnels me, figure the best place to hone my craft and find likeminded folk would be the greatest kingdom of the Under-Realm"
Even beneath his customary helmet for protection in the caverns of the world, the hag can almost see pride behind the faceplate.
"I must admit the other reason I sat with you was another joy in my life, I love stories of the land and earth, I hear tales of creatures, heroes and great histories are to be found in these lands, I'd like to learn about the world others experience and their legends" Arno unbuckles a small leather journal from his belt.
"So old crone, no offence intended of course, me Ma and Da raised me better" he looks her directly in her eyes.
"Could you tell me your story too"
