How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: Metagaming is the use of OOC knowledge to influence the IC world in a way the character would not have been able to naturally. "Coincidentally" going to a place someone mentioned on discord to influence events there. Using the character's thoughts (both your own character or the others) to influence outcomes. Hearing someone say what a character would do oocly, then using that information to turn tables on them icly. Rping a scene as if the character will not be pk'd because you know the other writer won't kill others characters- though your own character doesn't know their life isn't actually on the line. Reading a scene while ooc and magically entering with full knowledge ic. Using lore that the character never icly learned to their advantage- such as someone who has never had a magic instructor knowing expert theories on magic and how to dodge and counter that fire spell they have never icly seen before.
How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: Powergaming is when the player influences their character in a way that gives them unreasonable leverage in the situation. For example, a novice who picked up a sword yesterday using an advanced move to win against a champion warrior. A person described as 'petite and tiny human' suddenly supplexing a full-grown orc or lifting a log off someone without considerable muscular strain or magical assistance. Being a master of all things with no weak points. The big problem with such a gaming method is it gives no opportunity to enrich the story with flaws, mistakes, and failures of the character- and there is little opportunity to lift others up in RP either.

Read the scenario below this box and type out inside of this box how your character might respond. You must show an understanding of quoted dialogue and exposition throughout the scenario.

Sonja looked to the man, green eyes appraising him with a slightly upturned lip as she scanned his features and the finery of his clothes. Her pale hand reached to rest over her coin purse as the figure drew close, long fingers curling a loose protective shield over the strings binding it to her sash. After a long moment, her shoulders relaxed and she in a slow breath, lifting her chin. "My thanks. The journey was longer than I had anticipated."

"As for my business with this place- I seek to reclaim what has been lost," she stated as she shifted her weight onto her left leg, coarse skirts shifting over a wiry frame. She shifted her attention to the boisterous surroundings, hand lifting from her pouch to settle the bag slung over her shoulder. Despite how sparce the sack seemed for travel, she spared the cargo being unloaded off the boat not one glance.  "Maps to start. I've a coin for whomever can point me to such. Three if they will be kind enough to escort."
