Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”
At the moment of hearing the certainty from the Hag's voice, Mordred’s guard was raised. He slowly lowered himself to the ground, sitting, though he felt suspicious already. Mordred asked almost hesitantly and without doubt. "My name is Mordred, who are you?" He glanced up at the old lady's face, she seemed curious, but something felt wrong. It was in the air, though he proceeded regardless. "I am from a far away place and have come in search of knowledge and experience. I want to become stronger, strong enough to become a hero!" He paused, faintly looking back at the Witch's face, looking at her hand on a small crystal. Modred thought to himself “A magic item?” He’d never seen one before. "I have nothing, and therefore nothing to lose… So I've decided to dedicate all I have left to achieving a long sought after dream of mine, so-" He paused, raising his eyes to meet her face, this time with greater intent. He clearly wouldn’t accept anything but a clear answer this time. He asked, "Who are you?”
The witch took a moment, letting out a long sigh as if she finally saw something she was looking forward to. "I'm just an old hag. Someone who finds mild joy in occasionally interacting with interesting people from this world." Her vague answer confused Mordred even more. As he tried to understand, the witch told Mordred one more thing that caught him by surprise."Your mother wishes the best for you in achieving your goal." The hag’s words gave Mordred an immediate flashback to when his parents were still around and the day he lost them. There was a long moment of silence, then he spoke. "Thank you for that, I have to go now.", He said, beginning to leave the tent as the Hag wished him well.
