You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”
((How do you respond?))
Gamu sniffs the air long as he enters, hand rising to wipe his nose. He seats himself atop the cushion, hand extending in half-greeting, half-question as he says: "Bread?"
There is some silence. Then there is some bread. Gamu looks at the moldy gift and begins to pick apart at the 'good' parts to eat from. A silent 'thank you' nod sufficed on his part as he began..
"I's Gamu. From some backwater group in Aeldin - me pops was a carpenter, died in th'war. Moms fell into some bad stuff.. real bad. Ended up leavin' me wit' two older brothers." -- A cough interrupted, following by Gamu scratching at his throat. -- "Took care of me. Taught me what older brothers 'posed to teach they younger brothers. Anyways, we's split for now, but I decided to head over this way. Wherever this is."
The witch prodded for more, though preceded cryptically: "You are granted the path you are ready for."
He went on. "Only reason we's split up is 'cause some roughcut fellas caught us up on the way here - talkin' bout some fee. 'Course, we denied 'em 'cause they wasn't official. But then he start raisin' up fire n' smoke n' shit from outta nowhere n' we got th'hell on 'cause we ain't seen that before. Shit's weird."
"Strange men beget strange occurances, hm?" A voiced croned from the depths of the tent. In his picking at the bread, he seemed to have noticed that the witch had left him. Having no experience (or desire therefore) of dealing with the metaphysical, he opted for yet another tactical retreat.
