    How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: Metagaming is the use of information gained OOCly or misuse of information gained IOCly. (ex) I get a text from a friend saying there are bandits on the road to Oren. I then tell everyone to watch out for the bandits on the road to Oren.
    How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: Power gaming is an unfair tactic where you give yourself overpowered and unrealistic abilities. This can also be used to avoid emotes who could do you harm. (ex) If I were to emote something like this, "Mirabella would swing her sword instantly cutting off the opponent's head." This would be an example of power gaming.

To the gentlemen asking the question she responds with, "I am in search of any fellow halflings. Can you point me to any?"  The gentlemen replied with, "no, but I can point you to the bar!" She rolls her eyes and says "no, thank you". She walks off continuing down the trail.
