As a child Fredrik was raised in a small town in the kingdom of Hanseti-Ruska. As a boy he was raised in a library ran by his father and because of that spent much of his time reading about the feats of great heroes and mages. His favorite stories were those about the great rune smiths of the past. He aspired to have his own workshop one day to be able to find a master and learn the craft. Fredrik was always a studious boy and was rarely seen without his nose in a book of some kind. Although one day that habit turned out to be bad for him as he was walking up to grandfather's farm and didn't notice that a hog had gotten out of the pen and was rushing towards him it knocked him over and broke his arm, from that day on he couldn't be still when he could see a pig. As he grew he never became a very strong boy, at least in the sense of brawn, but instead focused his mind upon trying to find a master for rune smiting, hoping one day one would just walk in the front of the library, so far non have. He continues to run his family's library after his father's death of natural causes. But he still wishes to travel to the Under Realm of Urguan to find someone to teach him. But alas he stays within the great halls full of books that he cares for and that he hopes to one day share with a child of his own. As his days go on he continues to try to be the best he can be, he even learned how to bind, and print books to add to his collection. As on of the least visited places in his home the library has become lonely, its halls full of knowledge but few to read them. But he still hopes upon hope that one day his dream of becoming a Rune Smith might be realized.

As Fredrik walked down the gang plank of the ship he smelled the delicious aroma of the many food stalls, the glimmering gold in the stalls all around him. He then noticed a man walking towards him with a large smile. As the clearly wealthy man approached Fredrik straitened his jacket and made sure he presentable. "My name is Fredrik Oakenspine and I happen to be here looking for the local library as I am to rebind some books for them that have fallen into disrepair, could you by chance point me in the direction of the library sir?" As the man points in the direction of the library Fredrik nods his thanks and shakes the man's hand and heads off in the direction pointed out to him by the man.
