How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: Prioritize well-rounded character development, constructing relatable personas with a mix of strengths and weaknesses. Steer clear of crafting characters who are overwhelmingly godly, as introducing flaws and limitations enriches the storytelling experience. Instead of taking immediate action against players, present your intentions or plans to give others a chance to respond, fostering more dynamic and engaging interactions within the narrative.
How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: Metagaming is when you use out-of-character knowledge to your advantage, like finding things out in discord chats. it can give players info that they would not normally have received in game. Players should stick to ingame knowledge to create an equal playing field.

You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

((How do you respond?))

"I must admit, the journey to this swampy town was not what I had initially planned," I respond, trying to hide my surprise at the old hag's uncanny words.

*Settles onto the cushion she gestured towards.

"Fate seems to have led me to your tent," I continue cautiously, choosing my words carefully. "I seek answers, guidance, and perhaps even a touch of the unknown. There are whispers of the mystical powers that dwell within these murky lands, and I come with an open heart and a longing for understanding."

*Takes out a few coins and hands it to the woman.

"If you have been expecting me, then you must know something about my purpose here," I say, curiosity and intrigue mingling in my voice. "Tell me, oh wise one, what do you see in my future? What path has led me to this moment, and what do the fates have in store for me?"
