    How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: Meta-gaming is using information acquired outside/inside of your current game, then your character suddenly knows it then uses it for their own benefit. Usually, meta-gaming is vastly used in MOBAs (i.e: League of Legends) and other competitive games but it is not limited to roleplaying and DnD. For example, a friend of mine informed me in discord that she needed help doing a quest for her progress, I warped into her area and proceeded to help albeit my character isn't informed about her and the quest that she is doing.
    How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: Power-gaming is giving out commands or actions to your character that is out of his reach/ability. For example, my character used a command then I gave out a result that benefitted my character.

As this gentleman asked me about my motives in the city, I presented him an Acacia, it is white in color and it represents friendship.

 

As I look around, this market is pretty upbeat compared to Oren. If you ever pass by a stall, you'll be greeted by "Welcome adventurer! Do you need wares?", "We have the best weapons for you, soldier!", and the best of them all, "You can't handle my potions, traveller. Take a gander." I must say, I love the ambient noise and atmosphere of this market.

 

It seems to me that this gentleman usually comes here. Is he out here to help people or use them for their own gain? Who knows? I'll be careful.

 

"Greetings, I came here for adventure and information seeking. Do you know any lodging open for me to stay in? It would be best if you accompany me if you know one." I replied after handing the Acacia to him.

 

"This bag of mine is heavy too, mind if you lend a hand, good sir?" I added while I shake my heavy bag lightly.
