    In your own words, what is powergaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: Essentially Metagaming it the utilizing of information which your character would never know in RP. I.E. My character has never seen an elf, but I've read the wiki and suddenly my character knows everything about elven culture. [This is a bad thing]
    In your own words, what is metagaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: Powergaming is the enforcing of unfair/undeserved control over the RP taking place. "I cut off your head and you die." - Powergaming "I swing my sword, aiming for your unarmored neck. *Rolls*" -Not powergaming. Basically its giving yourself an automatic v

Rolin was once a lauded warrior of House de Savin. Born the son of a serf, Rolin seemed destined to whittle his life away in the fields. By age 16 however, Rolin was a bulky lad and caught the attention of one of the local knights. The knight decided to take the hulking youth into his service as a soon-to-be man-at-arms. Rolin embraced the role faithfully as it was a way out of his boring destiny. Battle after battle, Rolin served the knight of House de Savin and would even serve the knight’s decedent when they came of age.

 

The constant struggles however had a dreadful effect on Rolin’s mind and body. Once he hit the age of 40, his body started to become weak and the stress of ending men’s lives became apparent to his liege lord and so the man who had served his master so well for so many years was released from his service and allowed to freely wander. Machtfield was lost in the world and wandered aimlessly for a time until he eventually found solace in the possum of the Canon Church. Friar Pith, the leader of small monastery on the outskirts Felsen took the old warrior in and granted him kindness after kindness. It wouldn’t be long until the veteran took the vows and became a monk of the Exalted Saint Godfrey. 

 

The next 15 years were a blissful existence for the man. Rolin was comforted that his final days would be as a man of peace and devotion to his God. Unbeknownst to the monk, his monastery was built on some ancient elven holy site. The details mattered little to him, all that mattered was the fact that this insignificant detail resulted in an attack against his home while he was away on a trade mission. Returning he found only death and ruin. 

 

Rolin, in his resentment, dawned once more his warrior’s garb and set out to right this wrong against humanity, god, and himself.

Physical Description: An old man whose hair has escaped his head to rest on his cheeks. He wears armor emblazoned with Canon sigils and runes.
Roleplay Scenario: The traveller has just arrived in a small town. As they look around, their gaze is met with run down houses and shops. They duck into one of the shacks, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the small room, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town?" She begins, then pauses to study their face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a chair, “Where do you come from? What do you hope to make of yourself?”
