Read the scenario below this box and type out inside of this box how your character might respond. Your response must be at least four sentences long and include at least one action and at least one piece of dialogue surrounded by quotes.
- You’ve just stepped off of the boat in the port of a massive and fortified city. Before you lies a sprawling bazaar, with numerous shops, stalls, and seated traders selling wares to folk of all walks of life. Just as you’re about to continue walking onwards, into the market, you’re approached by a well-dressed gentleman who looks upon you with a big smile. “Welcome!” He began. “What brings you to this lovely city? Adventure? Wealth? Or some grand aspirations to elevate your place in society?”
How do you respond?
Rythion gives the man a quick appraisal. He’s a portly man in his forties, dressed in attire as extravagant almost as to match his own. Perhaps a well-off merchant, or perhaps a man posing as one. Whatever the case, Rythion had learned to be wary of well-meaning salesmen who would smile to you as a friend, but as soon sell you on the most overpriced “great deals” In the city.
Hiding his distaste with a flash smile, Rythion replies. “How about all three?”
The man gives a hearty chuckle, whilst Rythion continues to study him.
In any case, it wasn’t as often as he’d like that life threw him a story the moment he stepped off into a new city. If the land was going to throw him a bone, he damn well wasn’t going to throw it back.
Smiling more broadly, he steps forward. “Why don’t you show me around?” he says, a glint in his eye.
