John Bournesmouth would peer at the woman up and down, shivering slightly at her most horrid appearance. He recalled his younger years, and would begin speaking, a low drawl, "Aye, I've been through my fair share of tribulation. I can still vividly picture the end to it all, my old life of peace and comfort within the old fishing village, that sudden attack, the loss of my family, and my period of exile. The time immemorial I spent training and working, vowing to put an end to that wretched band of cretins, mastering my swordsmanship. I still regret the loss of my mother, with her warm words and caring hands, and my father, with his strength, valor, and courage. The destruction of my village shall only fuel my return, intensify my vengeance, and prove my redemption." He ended this at barely a whisper, coolly staring into the old woman's eyes.

How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: Sticking to the authenticity of the character, situation, and abilities of my race within the context of the universe.
How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: It ruins roleplay by letting one side gain the upper hand through knowledge they should not have access to, creating unrealistic gameplay.
