Aubree Avalia-Mercer is a half-elf who lives in the city of Helena with her cousin, Jakob Mercer. She had a good childhood as an only child with her parents, Macie Mercer and Harold Avalia. Growing up, her living conditions weren’t ideal, but her parents taught her to always appreciate what she has, giving her an optimistic view on life. Different from her youth, her parents grew up during the War of Two Emperors, so her father made sure Aubree would be able to grow up strong and independent, needing no one if anything bad were to happen. She never travelled far from home until her parents died 5 months ago in a freak accident, to which she decided to start a new in Helena. Originally traveling to Haense, she was not pleased with the city life, so she wrote to her cousin and travelled further to Helena where he was. She realized because she is a half-elf, she is not fully accepted into either elven or human societies(she did not previously know this because she never traveled to other cities before), so she is closed off to those whom she isn’t familiar with. She is a very good liar and is able to deceive others because of her harmless looking appearance. When she enters Helena, she begins to hide her ears daily behind her hair or with a hat in the city. The only person who knows her secret is her cousin Jakob. She knew her cousin Jakob as a child and always kept some sort of contact with him all her life. Her goal in Helena is to explore the wonders that the world has to offer, creating a life for herself outside of her previous childhood home while overcoming the sadness of losing her parents.
Aubree slows her pace but continues to walk forward. “Well, I guess you could say I’m wandering the world with no purpose, but ironically I’m in a bit of a rush right now. Lovely to meet you!” She quickens her pace once again, looking back and forth from the piece of paper in her hand to street signs, clearly looking for an address. Not looking where she’s going, she runs into a person causing them both to fall on the ground. *Bam* ”Ack! Ouch, ugh I’m so sorry about that I’m such a klutz. Are you ok?” “Ouch! Man, watch where you’re going lady!” they both exclaim at the same time, talking over each other. Aubree looks up to see none other than her cousin Jayson. It takes her a moment and then she exclaims *gasp* “Jakob?” He looks up and a his frown turns into a smile, “Bree!” and they both bear hug in a big embrace.
