Diana placed one foot upon the dry land and instantly felt better, for the ground was no longer rocking beneath her feet and making her queasy. The bright colors and loud sounds caused her emerald eyes to dart back and forth, having a hard time to decide what to rest upon. Her view was almost immediately blocked as the well-dressed gentleman stepped in front of her with a kind smile and mischievous eyes. The heart shaped lips that rest upon her face gently curled into a smile as he spoke, a warm and welcoming feeling washing over her. The feeling that she didn’t make a mistake by leaving her father behind.
”Welcome!” He began. “What brings you to this lovely city? Adventure? Wealth? Or some grand aspirations to elevate your place in society.”
The question left her pondering for a moment, giving her a few seconds to clear the phlegm from her throat before she began to answer him. “All but none of your answers fit,” she’d respond with lofted brows. “I have no plan except to live my life. I do not decide what happens, it will take me where I must go.”
The man looked at the short female with a puzzled look, his eyebrows furrowing and eyes narrowing. “It sounds to me you are just unprepared,” he says softly.
”Perhaps I am!” Diana would say enthusiastically, her shoulders lifting and falling in a shrug. “Yet, I feel more prepared than I ever have before.”
Diana extended an arm to the fellow, her smile only growing. “The name is Diana Reanly. You should remember the name, so when you hear the stories, you can say you’ve met me.”
