Xylie Nightshade was born into the Nightshade bloodline, a family heard of yet not well-known for their discipline, control, and quiet authority.
Her father, Viktor Nightshade, was a stern man, a man who believed control was everything. Her mother, Zahara Nightshade, was far softer, known for her wisdom and kindness, often tending to both people and animals alike. From Zahara, Xylie inherited her gentle heart. From Viktor, she inherited expectations.
As a child, Xylie was… different.
Xylie spent her time in the forests, befriending small animals and tending to injured creatures she found along the edges of the territory. She showed little interest in strength or dominance, and though she trained when required, it was clear she lacked the natural aggression many in her bloodline possessed.
Still, her parents did not neglect her. Viktor, though strict, cared deeply in his own way. When Xylie struggled with traditional combat, he crafted her a bow—something that suited her patience and precision rather than raw power. It became one of the first times Xylie felt truly seen by him.
Whispers spread quietly. Though her family never cast her out, there was a shift—subtle, but real. Expectations turned into quiet concern. Trust became something fragile.
Unable to bear the fear of hurting someone, Xylie began to distance herself. She spent more time on the outskirts of her home, in the forests where animals didn’t judge her—and where she felt safest. Eventually, she left, boarded a ship, and crash landed here.
Now at 19, Xylie stands at a crossroads.
She is still part of the Nightshade bloodline… but not fully within it. She carries her father’s teachings, her mother’s compassion, and her own quiet fear. She trains with her bow, cares for animals, and avoids situations where her control might be tested.
But deep down, one question lingers:
Is she unfit for her bloodline… or has she simply not discovered her own kind of strength yet?
The traveller has just arrived in a small town. As they look around, their gaze is met with run down houses and shops. They duck into one of the shacks, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the small room, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town?" She begins, then pauses to study their face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a chair, “Where do you come from? What do you hope to make of yourself?”

Xylie remained quiet for a moment, thinking, eyes downcast and head low. Her elf-like ears twitched, attempting to catch every sound possible. She then looked up at the woman, her green eyes shimmering. “I… uh, well… that’s a long story. My parents said that I should explore and come here for something. They didn’t specify or say anything more, other than I had to go to a weaponsmith.”
She sighed, looking out at the horizon. “I come from the Kingdom of Norland. I work as a stablewoman." Xylie says, looking around. (Xylie's family are all NPCs and will not have any real impact on the story, other than being name-dropped.)
