How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: Meta gaming is when a player uses information that they acquired outside of a roleplay environment, inside of a roleplay environment.
How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: Powergaming is making your character "overpowered" in relationship to their actual stature, strength, and learned abilities and skills. It can also include executing unfair actions inside of a roleplay. An example would be a dwarf (on the short end, around 3') beating a 250 pound warrior orc in unarmed combat. Another example would be forcing emotes onto players, like emoting *I blow up your head with a fireball, killing you instantly".

"Oh hello! with such a friendly smile I could have mistaken you for my own father sir!" Tuzic says, taken aback by the mans kind disposition. "As to your question, I'm not sure if I'll stay here, or be moving right along to the next settlement, only a visit to some local mages will tell." Tuzic glances over at the Bazaar, overwhelmed by all the faces and all the different items in the stalls. "Say, you wouldn't be able to point me in the direction of the nearest teaching mage... would you?"

The well dressed man grins, as if he's heard this story before. He begins writing something down on a sheet of paper he produced from his pocket. "here I think this man might be able to help you."

He hands Tuzic the sheet of paper, and Tuzic looks down at the paper. The paper has directions to a home, deep in the city. Tuzic looks up and the man is mysteriously gone, as if he teleported away without a trace. "Well, I'd better get walking then..."
