Losing his birth parents when he was a baby Silas was found floating down the river near Brandybrook in a basket with nothing but a loaf of bread, which had his name carved in common, He was raised by two kind halflings that went by the Bakerton's. Thankfully the two never treated him as a Bigman, two them he was just Silas Bakerton the slightly large halfling.
He was raised like any other halfling and picked up baking like his parents. Silas spent his youth peacefully, lifting flour sacks, pulling stuff out of high places for his parents, bumped his head a number of times on low hanging oak beams. Silas's parents were already nearing their retirement phase. And the time of parting had inevitably came. On his death-bed, before passing his father finally tells him about how he was found near the banks of the river and not their biological son, Silas wasn't shocked, he had his suspicions at a young age, he just didn't care because no matter what, he loved his community and parents. After a proper burial.. Silas takes off, to see the world. The village, though home, was cramped.. Silas wished to see the wider world, find new grains, rare ingredients, and perhaps learn of more recipes so when the time comes, and he reunites with his parents amongst the Golden Wheatfields he may tell them all about his new findings.
The traveller has just arrived in a small town. As they look around, their gaze is met with run down houses and shops. They duck into one of the shacks, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the small room, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town?" She begins, then pauses to study their face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a chair, “Where do you come from? What do you hope to make of yourself?”
"Hello, I come from a village by the name of Brandybrook. I came here in search for new ideas for baking and perhaps... Settle to open a bakery of my own." He takes a seat, a bit tensed as this is one of the first times he's properly spoken to a 'Bigman'... He also keeps reminding himself to not use that term in front of them. "Would you perhaps be so kind to provide me with some guidance on where I could start? If you haven't already noticed, I'm... new to everything." He already thinks about how to repay this woman. But then mentally slaps himself, Of course, Big- No, 'Humans' use currency, So a loaf of bread or a few sacks of flour aren't going to suffice. "I may not have anything to pay you with at the moment, but if you could point me somewhere where I could- no will, work hard to earn the means to repay you with. So... please?" Silas was already mentally preparing himself for any type of answer, be it gardening, looking after livestock, cleaning, retrieving lost objects, heavy lifting. Preferably not anything that requires fighting, but if he must... On the fair chance that she declines, he's also thinking about where to head towards next. Maybe look for a farm where he could also use stay for a short period of time before he can get back on his feet.
